DS-160 digital photo
US visa photo resizer
Get your photo to the US Department of State's digital size: a square JPEG of 600 × 600 pixels, no bigger than 240 KB.
The digital image rules
| Shape | Square (height equals width) |
|---|---|
| Pixels | At least 600 × 600, at most 1200 × 1200 |
| Format | JPEG |
| File size | 240 KB or less |
| Color | 24-bit color (sRGB) |
| Compression | Ratio of 20:1 or less, so a 600 × 600 file should be at least about 54 KB |
This tool produces a 600 × 600 JPEG at the highest quality that stays under 240 KB, which keeps the compression well within the limit.
The photo itself must also meet the rules on pose, background and expression. Read the official US visa photo requirements before you submit.
Is it safe?
Yes. The photo is opened and resized by your own browser. It is never uploaded to a server, so nobody else can see it, and it works even if you go offline after the page has loaded. Saving a new copy also removes hidden camera data (EXIF), such as the GPS location where the photo was taken.
